The BAPA Teen Corps is a youth coalition of the Beverly Area Planning Association and a board of local teens whose combined efforts have centered around making volunteer opportunities available to teens who seek to satisfy their school community hours, want to meet other area teens beyond their schools, or satisfy their desire to contribute to their community in other ways.

Teen Corps currently has a seven-member board whose major focus is to unite teens in the community who are interested in leadership, service, and local affairs.

Teen Corps will host a community game night and meet and greet Sat., Apr. 2, 5 to 7 p.m., at the BAPA office, 1744 W. 99th St. The event will include pizza, games, and prizes. Guests ages 14 to 18 are welcome.

Launched in the summer of 2019, Teen Corps is looking to expand the group and continue enacting positive change in our community.

“So far, we have been a part of efforts such as the Beverly Art Walk, and last year, we held a food drive to support the Free Store. We also hosted seminars teaching youth how to turn their first jobs into lifetime lessons and long-term networks,” said Edith Casas, Teen Corps board president. “We have plans for engaging more teens in local initiatives.”

If you’re a teen and any of this sounds like something you might be interested in, join the Teen Corps game night meet and greet on Apr. 2. For more information on the group or how to get involved, contact our BAPA Teen Corps advisor Tina Jenkins Bell, tbell@gmail.com.
