CPD Park Advisory Councils
BAPA invites neighbors to participate in Park Advisory Councils (PACs) for their local park. These volunteer councils advocate for the parks by:
- promoting the Chicago Park District’s programs and facilities, so that the parks are better utilized.
- communicating to the Chicago Park District on matters relating to their parks.
- increasing community awareness of Chicago Park District projects.
- sharing park information with the community.
- finding alternate funding sources to enhance park facilities.
If you are interested in serving on the Park Advisory Council for your park or establishing a PAC, please email BAPA.
Dan Ryan Woods – Forest Preserves of Cook County
Beverly Hills/Morgan Park residents are fortunate to have easy access to the 257-acre Dan Ryan Woods, part of Cook County’s network of forest preserves. The visitor’s center is located at 8700 S. Western Ave.
The Dan Ryan Woods includes sledding and snowboarding hills, historic aqueducts, fitness stairs, picnic groves and a mile-long paved loop that connects to the Major Taylor Bike Trail. For nature enthusiasts, the Dan Ryan Woods is home to several native plants, animals and migratory birds. Classes and events are offered regularly. The Friends of Dan Ryan Woods host work days to remove invasive plants and oversee other projects; volunteers are welcome.
