The professional world and the TV show “Survivor” share a secret to success. In our team game, you’ll apply the skills it takes to survive—and thrive.

How to Play

Recruit friends to form a team of up to five players. Choose a team name that your teammates can include when they register. OR sign up without a team name, and you will be placed on a team at the competition!

About the Challenge

The Survivor Team Challenge is part of the Professional ABCs, a series of interactive events for young people focused on professional success. The Professional ABCs were developed by Advice Beyond the Clasroom. 

Advice Beyond the Classroom, the Professional ABCs, helps students interested in constructing the foundation of their future professional success through curriculum and access to our extensive network of alumni and professional mentors who are driven to empower and guide our future leaders to success. Our end goal is to create a competitive advantage for our participants in their careers

Nick-LoMaglio

Nick Lomaglio,
founder of Advice Beyond the Classroom

Nick LoMaglio is a Southside native and founder of Advice Beyond the Classroom. Along with the help of other mentors, students, and volunteers, Nick created the curriculum for the Professional ABCs. Teaching the next generation how to manufacture their own luck by building interpersonal skills is the core mission of the program.

Payton Condon

A graduate of Villanova University and St. Rita High School, Payton is an incoming associate at PWC in Philadelphia. At St. Rita, Payton was a foundational developer of the ABC curriculum and credits the program for teaching him valuable networking, team leadership, and interviewing skills.

Stephen Viz

An MBA candidate at the University of Notre Dame, Stephen is a leader in university residence life as well as a former member of Boeing’s Global Treasury Operations Group. He graduated from St. Rita High School, where he enjoyed competing in Survivor-style challenges as part of ABC’s original curriculum.

What is Advice Beyond the Classroom?

A nonprofit organization that teaches real-world professional skills and financial literacy basics, Advice Beyond the Classroom was founded in 2014 by Nick LoMaglio. ABC provides instruction to help motivated young people prepare for professional success.

Session 1:

First Impressions

This introductory session of The Professional ABCs focuses on the fundamentals of making a good first impression: personal appearance, handshake technique, respectful engagement, and conversation skills.

Session 2:

Your Network = Your Net Worth

What is a network, and how do you get one? What is the rate of return when you have a top-quality network? Teens can gain valuable insight in Session 2 of this interactive and entertaining workshop series. 

Session 3:

Building Your Brand​

Your brand is not about amassing 500,000 followers on social media. Your brand is the story people tell when you’re not in the room.
