Village Viewpoint January 2022

By Mary Jo Viero
BAPA Executive Director

The new year is here, and I am so excited! One of my favorite things to do is buy a yearly planner and go through each month, writing in BAPA’s annual events. Then I like to look at all the empty dates because I don’t know what I am might be doing. It feels like a fresh start with lots of possibilities. This year is especially exciting because it marks the 75th year since BAPA was formed.

That’s right, BAPA started serving the Beverly/Morgan Park community in 1947! We have been focused on bringing out the best in our community while supporting our local businesses and schools and working to beautify our neighborhood for all those years, with a commitment to keep at it for at least 75 more.

In the past year, we have made many changes so that BAPA can operate in the most fiscally efficient way possible.  Selling our building and moving to a smaller space is one example. Choosing to do events and programs that are solely mission-based is another.

What is our mission? BAPA’s mission encompasses all the things you want to see in a great community. We work with year around on events and programs to support and strengthen our small businesses and schools, to showcase our incredible housing stock, and to make our neighborhood a beautiful and safe place to call home.

Many people do not realize that BAPA is a not-for-profit organization, and that we rely on funds from our neighbors to help us do everything we do. Every dollar given to BAPA goes directly back to the community – YOUR community.  It’s full circle: You support us and we support your community.

I humbly ask that you consider joining BAPA’s efforts to strengthen our community by becoming a member.  You can donate online at www.bapa.org. I promise to put your dollars to work!

When you are filling your 2022 planner, check page ___ of this issue of The Villager for BAPA’s schedule of events and make a plan to join us.

I wish you all a happy, healthy and safe new year.

Best,

Mary Jo
