Skilled Care Wing Completed at Smith Village

The just completed $23 million modernization of the skilled care and rehab wing at Smith Village, 2320 W. 113th Pl., highlights this senior living community’s century of commitment to improve the lives of older adults. The all-new three-story addition quadruples the number of private suites and rooms for rehab and skilled nursing care residents and houses state-of-the-art therapy areas and dining rooms at the award-winning Life Plan Community.
Planning for this project began in 2017 and construction was accelerated because tradespeople were named essential workers during the pandemic, making this wing ready for total occupancy six months sooner than initially planned.
The modernization of the Johanson Wing and other recent updates at Smith Village include the addition of the Oak Room Pub and movie theater as well as renovation of the community hall and main entrance.
Smith Village, which opened at its current location in 1924, transformed its original campus with new construction valued at $68 million in 2008 to create a contemporary continuing care retirement community. Today, Smith Village is home to close to 250 adults, age 62 years and older, who enjoy amenities in independent and assisted living, memory care, short-term stay rehab and skilled nursing care residents benefiting from healthcare and lifestyle programs.
