Teams are a great way to prepare for the fun and challenge of running – or walking – BAPA’s Ridge Run.

Ridge Run teams are versatile in their reasons for hitting the pavement — teams form from groups of family members, friends, schools, neighbors, clubs or colleagues – just about anyone.

Teams can raise funds and awareness for an important cause or charity, honor a loved one or special anniversary, promote fitness goals, or just have fun. Ridge Run teams receive special incentives including vouchers for free pizza on race day, a spot to set up a tent in Team Town at Ridge Park, a free team sign, a free team picture, and $5 off on Ridge Run registration fees. Teams also enjoy Team Captain Check-in to streamline packet pickup for the entire team.  Learn more about team sign up at bapa.org/ridge run and start training.

Not a runner or new to the neighborhood? You can get involved as volunteer to help with a variety of tasks from now through event day for the Ridge Run and Memorial Day Parade – volunteering is a great way to learn more about the community and meet new people! Sign up at bapa.org on the Ridge Run page or call 773-233-3100 for more information.

Or you can share your time and talent as a member of the Ridge Run planning committee — the next meeting is Tues., Feb. 6, 9 a.m. at the BAPA office. Call 773-233-3100 for more information.

Or you can help sustain Chicago’s oldest neighborhood 10K race as a sponsor; contact BAPA Executive Director Mary Jo Viero at mjviero@bapa.org for details and a sponsor packet.

The Ridge Run races are followed by Chicago’s oldest community Memorial Day Parade which features military vehicles, the Patriot Guard, scout troops,

area families, businesses, institutions, groups and many more. This year’s Grand Marshal is National Women Veterans United. Applications for BAPA’s Beverly/Morgan Park Memorial Day Parade will be available soon from BAPA.
