The holidays will be especially exciting this year for Sasha Chatz. Chatz, a longtime student at the Dance Gallery Chicago, 10628 S. Western, will be dancing the roles of Ragamuffin and child/rat in the Joffrey Ballet’s “The Nutcracker.”
Nearly 11 years old, Chatz is an elite dancer who started studying at Dance Gallery when she was three. Now a preteen dancer, she attends Modern, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, and Hip-Hop classes, and dances at the studio all week long. She is also a student at St. Barnabas School.
Chatz credits Dance Gallery with helping her decide to audition for “The Nutcracker.”
“I got a lot of help and guidance and support from my dance teachers at Dance Gallery,” she said. “When I found out I made it into the Joffrey ‘Nutcracker’ show, I felt shocked, honored, and felt proud that I auditioned in the first place!”
The Joffrey Ballet “The Nutcracker” will be performed at the Civic Opera House, 20 N. Wacker Dr., Dec 3 through 27.
Dance Gallery Chicago is celebrating its 25th season of offering dance classes ranging from ballet to hip hop, and ballroom dance, providing expert and instruction for students ages two through adult. For studio tours and information, call 773-445-8910.
