March in the Memorial Day Parade

The first Beverly/Morgan Park Memorial Day Parade was in 1926, making it the oldest community Memorial Day in Chicago!

This year, members of the National Women Veterans United (NWVU) will march as the  Grand Marshal on Mon., May 27.  NWVU is the only all-female veteran organization advocating for veterans. The organization works with military women veterans—particularly those who are disabled, homeless, at risk, or returning from deployment—to ensure they are connected to appropriate direct services and resources.

Back by popular demand is the Jesse White Tumbling Team! Talented members of the team will stop to perform all down the parade route, thrilling spectators with jumps and flips that defy gravity and amaze onlookers.

The Memorial Day ceremony honoring the men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces who have given their lives in service to our country, is held at Ridge Park at 9 am. It includes the laying of the wreath, taps, and a solemn remembrance of the true meaning of Memorial Day.

The parade steps off after the Ridge Run races and features military vehicles, the Patriot Guard, scout troops, area families, businesses, institutions, and other groups. Parade participation is open to all area residents and organizations!
