RHS Open to Visitors

Ridge Historical Society (RHS), 10621 S. Seeley Ave., is now open to the public Tuesdays and Sundays, 1 to 4 p.m., as well as by appointment. Area residents are encouraged to stop by to learn more about the history of the Beverly/Morgan Park and the Ridge communities and view exhibits.

The current special exhibit is The Hetherington Design Dynasty, which features the lives and designs of three generations of the Beverly/Morgan Park Hetherington family of architects, as well as a display of the remarkable architectural photography of Mati Maldre. If you’ve already viewed this extensive and fascinating exhibit, make sure you stop by again to view newly added information featuring the art of Mildred Lyon Hetherington, a Ridge girl married to second-generation architect, Murray Hetherington.  Mildred was a successful portrait artist and children’s illustration artist.

RHS exhibits will be expanded for the Beverly Art Walk on Sat., Sept 17.

RHS continues its 50th anniversary celebration with a tasting party and fundraising opportunity Sun., Sept. 25, 4 to 6 p. m.  The event will feature beverages from Wild Blossom Meadery accompanied by gourmet small bites and charcuterie. In recognition of the anniversary a signature beverage will be created with an exclusive RHS label.

RHS is pleased to partner with this unique local business to recognize 50 years of collecting, preserving, and interpreting local history while raising funds to continue their work.

RHS will host The Spirits Among Us, a presentation by Rex Newell, on Sun., Oct. 30.

For more information about RHS and upcoming events or to arrange a private tour, call 773-881-1675 or email ridgehistory@hotmail.com.
