The Arts
The Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., 773-445-3838, is a nonprofit institution dedicated to providing fine arts and performing arts programming and education. The BAC’s multidisciplinary programs include a non-credit School of the Arts that offers more than 100 classes in the visual arts, music, theater, creative writing and dance. The Center also holds concerts, film screenings, and art exhibitions.
The Beverly Theatre Guild was formed in 1963 and began producing quality community theater. Guild productions are staged at the Baer Theatre at Morgan Park Academy, 2153 W. 111th St. For information on the theater season or auditions, call 773-284-8497.
Boundary Art Space is a private art gallery in a converted garage, 2334 W. 111th Pl., Chicago. Boundary hosts new artist exhibits monthly, and holds opening receptions open to the public.
Ridge Historical Society, 10621 S. Seeley Ave., preserves and promotes the history of Beverly Hills/Morgan Park, mounting exhibits, presenting programs and providing assistance with historical research. The Architectural Resource Center provides expert help in researching house histories. Call 773-881-1675.
Vanderpoel Art Association, named for the noted artist and art teacher John H. Vanderpoel, was founded in 1911, shortly after the artist’s death. The Vanderpoel art collection, housed in a gallery at the Ridge Park Fieldhouse, is composed of important 19th and 20th century American Impressionist paintings, sculptures and prints. In the collection are works by Grant Wood, Mary Cassatt, Frank W. Benson, Daniel Chester French, Maxfield Parrish, Vanderpoel, and others. For gallery hours call 773-779-0007. Admission is free.
Beverly Area Arts Alliance Formed in 2014, the Arts Alliance brings together local artists and community members to collaborate on art focused events. Their showcase event is the Beverly Art Walk, which takes place in the fall. The Alliance also presents The Frunchroom, a quarterly reading series.
