O’Chara Wax and Skincare Studio

By Marianne Walsh

When Charlene Bryant opened O’Chara Wax and Skincare Studio in 2016, she held true to her mantra that skin is life, stress is a killer and beauty is more than skin deep.

After working in the accounting industry for 25 years, Bryant followed her passion in wanting to make people feel good, boost their confidence, and change lives “one face at a time.” She chose the Beverly/Morgan Park area because of its vast diversity and continued growth. Yet just as O’Chara Wax and Skincare was hitting its stride, Bryant was in a bad car accident in 2020 that left her with plates and screws in her hip, pelvis, femur, wrist and ankle.

What might have ended the dreams of many small business owners only made Bryant more determined. While her recovery remains ongoing, she has wowed her orthopedic surgeon with her mobility and even plans to visit Duke University to explore additional treatments. Staying positive and healthy is contagious and inspires many of Bryant’s clients.

Walking into O’Chara’s studio, 2140 W. 95th St., instantly charms both old and new customers alike. From the studio’s signature crystal chandelier to its unmistakable and refreshing spa aroma, the energy is both elegant and relaxing.

A licensed Advanced Esthetician, Bryant holds additional certifications and education in multicultural skincare, anti-aging treatments, acne and advanced exfoliation techniques. Her vast offerings of facials and waxings are each custom-tailored to meet the skincare needs of clients. Men, women, and teens come from all over the Chicagoland area to experience some of the studio’s most popular services, including:

Acne Clear Facial that uses an exfoliating blueberry enzyme that minimizes the appearance of pore size, a pomegranate enzyme to address acne prone skin, and a strawberry mint mask that absorbs oil, refines pores and serves as an antifungal, antibacterial and antiseptic for skin. This facial includes travel sized products for continued home care.

Chocolate Brazilian Wax that relies on chocolate wax due to its ability to greatly diminish pain and discomfort.

After Glow Bro Beard Treatment, a deep cleanse facial that focuses on beard health.

Sacred Lotus, a Yoni steaming service that incorporates a specialty blend of herbs. It’s a popular gift for postpartum healing and the restoration of emotional balance.

Bryant is grateful for the overwhelming support and repeat business from the Beverly/Morgan Park community.

“I consider it a blessing and a privilege to have found a career that not only helps people achieve clear and healthy skin, but a career that helps people feel good about themselves,” she said.

With Bryant’s customized and caring approach to client service along with a studio that instantly removes stress simply upon entering, the community is just as lucky to have Bryant bringing her special glow to all that she does.
