New Neighbors: The Lindsey Family

By Kristin Boza

Anthony and Nayako Lindsey have spent less than a year as Beverly/Morgan Park homeowners, but they have already found the community to be a peaceful niche of Chicago. It wasn’t until the pair visited a colleague who lives in Beverly/Morgan Park that they expand their home search to include this neighborhood. The couple previously lived in Oakland/Kenwood.

“We knew of Beverly/Morgan Park, but didn’t appreciate the family culture of the neighborhood until visiting,” Anthony said. “We fell in love with the serenity and natural beauty of the neighborhood. The scenic tree-lined streets, historic architecture, local events, and the active local community encouraged us to make Beverly our home.”

Anthony is an intelligence analyst with the Chicago Police Department, who analyzes crime data, patrol metrics, and community concerns in an effort to reduce violent and property crime. Before joining the CPD, Anthony was in the United States Navy working in intelligence.

Nayako is a student working toward a paralegal degree. She lived in Japan and Canada and will use her international background to help law offices improves processes with international clients.

For fun, Anthony enjoys bowling, photography, and interacting with technology. Nayako is the creative in the family, curating digital art, reupholstering vintage furniture, and engaging in other DIY activities. She also enjoys reading, cooking, and observing nature.

“We enjoy spending time with our two dogs, Kobe and Cannon, as well as our four cats. We also enjoy road trips, hiking, and playing tourist in Chicago,” Anthony said.

The pair loves anything historic and vintage, so finding that vibe in Beverly/Morgan Park was a treat.

“We adore the history of vintage houses and appreciate the style of old home living,” Anthony said. “We especially enjoy features like real fireplaces and separated living and dining room layouts. We know fixing up a home is a significant project, but we’ve enjoyed this family endeavor and working together to make our vintage home a one-of-a-kind thing.”

Nayako and Anthony loved BAPA’s Home Tour. “It was very impressive to see many ideas on how the vintage homes were redone with each owner’s creativity,” Anthony said. “We had such a fun day walking through the neighborhood.”

Above all, the Lindseys love living in Beverly/Morgan Park because of the quick access to other areas of the city and coming home to a quiet space.

“We enjoy the serenity found in Beverly, and the beautiful nature of all four seasons. Our dogs are much happier here, too!” Anthony said.
