Beyond the Pandemic: Creative Growth, a family-friendly outdoor event that creates a safe space to creatively express and share feelings and experiences related to the pandemic through art and writing, will be held Sun., Oct. 10, 2 to 4 p.m., Beverly Therapists, 10725 S. St. John Fisher Oktoberfest, Fri., Oct. 15, 6 to 11 p.m., 103rd and Washtenaw, featuring food, beer, and music by the Ron Burgundy Band. Ages 21+. Tickets: $30 each or $50 per couple at Sjfschool.net/Oktoberfest. 

The Wintrust Platinum Adventures presents a program on the personal lives and crimes of Al Capone, John Dillinger and other mobsters from the Prohibition era and beyond Tues., Oct. 26, and the remarkable story of Typhoid Mary, the Irish cook who infected dozens of New Yorkers with typhoid fever in the early 1900s, Wed., Oct. 27.
