Neighborhood Notes: Community News & Events – March 2022 

 

Ridge Historical Society has extended the Real American Girls of the Ridge exhibit to the end of March. The charming display uses vintage newspaper articles, photos, maps, artifacts and more to tell the true stories of five real girls/women, in the context of their times in the Beverly/Morgan Park area, paired with the time they share in history with dolls from the American Girl collection. Registration opens Thurs., Mar. 3 for the one-day Marcus Martin Youth Fundamentals Football Camp on Sat., Apr. 16, and the 7-week Martin NFL Flag Football League starting May 7. Programs are open to boys and girls ages 5 to 13. The camps are developed and offered by former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Mike Martin. Chicago Kids Company children’s production of “Rapunzel” opens Mar. 3 and continues through May 6 on selected weekdays at 10:30 a.m. and Saturdays Mar. 12 and Apr. 9, 1 p.m. at the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St. Tickets are $14 to $18 (children on laps and under age 2 are free) with group rates starting at $8. Candidate applications for 2022 Local School Council elections are due Fri., Mar. 4, 3 p.m.  LSC spots are open for parents, community members, and school staff to serve two years.
