Happy Anniversary, BAPA!

Happy Anniversary, BAPA!

The Beverly Area Planning Association turns 75 this year! That’s 75 years of serving Beverly/Morgan Park with programs rooted in making our community stronger, more connected and more beautiful.

Since 1947, BAPA has been fostering small town amenities in a thriving Chicago neighborhood. Founded by community leaders who saw the need to connect all parts of the neighborhood, BAPA began as an umbrella group for already established homeowner associations.

For two decades, BAPA was an all-volunteer organization focused beautification, zoning, city services and other civic issues. In 1967, BAPA published its first community newsletter, delivered to every home and business once a month. These newsletters – now published as The Villager — document BAPA’s history of grassroots community organizing and service. In 1971, BAPA was reorganized and its first paid staff was hired.

Throughout the year, we will be sharing BAPA’s history and celebrating our anniversary. Watch The Villager, BAPA enews and our social media for information and plans unfold.
