Former BAPA President Bob Berghoff Remembered 

Former BAPA Board President and longtime community resident Robert (Bob) Berghoff died May 10 following a long illness. He was 78. Berghoff’s term as BAPA President was exemplary of how he lived his life: Respectful, patient, intuitive, fair and committed. He will be misssed in the community he loved.

Berghoff and his wife Carolyn moved to Beverly Hills/Morgan Park in 1963, and soon became active in community organizations. In addition to BAPA, he served locally on the boards of Morgan Park High School Community Council, Beverly Improvement Association and Smith Village where his service went back to when the facility was operated as Washington & Jane Smith Home. Berghoff helped usher in the transition to the Smith VIllage new sernior community. He was a resident there when he died.

Berghoff was a graduate of South Shore High School and studied law at University of Chicago. He had a successful career i law that spanned five decades. In 1995, Berghoff and his son Christopher began practicing together, and in 2005 they formed Berghoff & Berghoff Ltd.

Berghoff will be remembered for his passion about our community and for people. He has left Beverly/Morgan Park a better place.
