Food Truck Fridays Start on Cinco de Mayo at Cork & Kerry

Cork & Kerry Tavern, 10614 S. Western, will host a summer of Food Truck Fridays starting on May, 5 when Aztec Dave’s drives in to dish up a Mexican menu for Cinco de Mayo.

Planning for Food Truck Fridays started at the end of last summer when they built a space in their popular beer garden to accommodate food trucks. Every Friday through Labor Day weekend, a different food truck will be selling and serving Cork & Kerry patrons from 4 to 7 p.m. The transportable food service will be geared to all generations of patrons who are interested in trying out a wide variety of foods from throughout Chicago. Monthly beer specials will also be offered.

Hyde Park-based Aztec Dave’s will be offering their complete menu of Mexican specialties, sandwiches and vegetarian fare on May 5. On May 12, Porkchop will be serving their urban interpretation of a gourmet Southern comfort food and BBQ. The Fat Shallot arrives on May 19 with their gourmet sandwiches and sides. The month wraps up with Cheesies and their wide variety of “perfect grilled cheese” sandwiches on May 26. Corona is the May beer special for Food Trick Fridays.

Food trucks are now being booked for June, and more surprises are in store all summer.

Cork & Kerry has 20 different beers on tap and over 22 different bottled beers, and the beer garden can accommodate 300 people. Open seven days a week, stop in at Cork & Kerry Mon. – Fri., 2 p.m. to 2 a.m.; Sat., noon to 3 a.m.; and Sun., noon to 2 a.m.
