Beverly/Morgan Park Community Choir will perform its annual concert Sun., Apr. 7, 4 p.m., St. Cajetan Church, 2445 W. 112th St. The choir will perform a variety of sacred music from classical to gospel, accompanied by piano, percussion and brass instruments.
The concert theme is 20 Years of Praise, and to commemorate its anniversary, the Choir commissioned two pieces of music which will debut at the concert. The first, a five–movement piece entitled “Chicago Psalms,” was composed by Dr. Stuart Scott. It is scored for brass, percussion and piano. The second piece was written by the Choir’s long–time accompanist, Dr. William Crowle. The work is titled “The Lord Bless and Keep You,” a benediction that is a spiritual summation of the Choir’s 20 years.
Approximately 58 singers from 20 different churches throughout the South Side are members of the Beverly/Morgan Park Community Choir. The group, which is sponsored by the Beverly/Morgan Park Community of Churches, draws singers of all faiths.
There is no cost for admission to the concert and the event is open to all. A free will offering will be taken at intermission. For more information on the Choir, visit www.bmpcc.org or e-mail BMPCChoir@gmail.com.
