WTTW’s OUR IRISH PUB TV SHOW TAPING
LIVE AT CORK & KERRY
Irish American radio personality Mike Houlihan is producing another episode of his popular TV show, OUR IRISH PUB, which debuted last March on WTTW to critical acclaim. This time he’s bringing the show back to the old neighborhood where he grew up, Beverly. On Thursday Sept. 12th OUR IRISH PUB will film at The Cork & Kerry Irish Pub, 10614 South Western Ave, in Chicago.
The show features telegenic Irish fiddler Katie Grennan, from the electrifying Irish band “Gaelic Storm”, as host, visiting local Irish pubs, playing traditional Irish music with other Irish musicians, and offering some brief history on each pub. Joining Katie that Thursday night at the Cork & Kerry will be Irish musician Pauline Conneely, a former champion Irish step dancer, founder of Chicago Reel, and legendary Irish banjo player. Also performing will be Derry born singer-songwriter, recording artist Gavin Coyle, two-time Midwest Fleadh Cheoil champion on the bodhrán, Amy Richter, and two-time world champion step dancer and local Oak Lawn HS student, Tadgh Spillane.
All are welcome and encouraged to join in the craic in OUR IRISH PUB at The Cork & Kerry on Thursday, Sept. 12th at 7PM. Admission is free with a cash bar. All audience members are required to sign television appearance release forms that night.
The show kicks off at 7PM in the Cork and there are rumors that Houli will also tape his radio show that night beforehand. Houlihan co-hosted The Skinny & Houli Radio Show for nine years before Skinny retired last December and now solos on The Hibernian Radio Hour, which is broadcast every Saturday night on WSBC 1240AM from 7-8PM, featuring Irish music, news, comedy, and interviews with Irish First Responders, cops, firefighters, and paramedics.
Houlihan says, “Hoping to see all our old pals from the south side at this multi-media Irish extravaganza at The Cork & Kerry, Thursday night, Sept. 12th. The craic will be mighty indeed!”
