The most action-packed Christmas movie ever made, or the most Christmas-packed action movie ever made? Take your pick. Die Hard, the first in an enduring series of action epics, follows NYPD officer John McClane (Bruce Willis in a persona-defining performance) who, while trying to enjoy a Christmas party with his wife is forced to go back on duty in a most extraordinary way when a group of terrorists holds the entire gathering hostage. In recent years, the film has gained a reputation as one of the more idiosyncratic holiday films, one which will doubtlessly outlast the number of possible variations on the words ‘die’ and ‘hard.’ Yuletide Hard!
