Alderman Matt O’Shea, Senator Bill Cunningham, and Representative Fran Hurley will partner with the Chicago Department of Public Health to provide free influenza immunizations on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the 19th Ward Office, 10402 S. Western Ave. Flu vaccines are offered at no cost to adults of any age and children over six months olds. No appointment is necessary and vaccinations are provided on a first come, first served basis. Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the influenza virus. It can cause mild to severe illness. The most serious cases can result in hospitalization or even death in extreme cases. Senior citizens, children and those with serious health conditions are at a high risk of serious flu complications. Getting an annual flu shot is the best way to prevent the illness.
