Be a Hero This Summer: Donate Blood and Save Lives!

By Aaqila Harvey

This summer, we present you with a unique opportunity to become a hero in your community by donating blood. Your blood donations are not just vital for saving lives, they are the lifeline of our community. Many individuals, from those with sickle cell anemia to cancer patients, rely on a steady blood supply. Unfortunately, this supply tends to decrease during summer, making your contribution more crucial than ever.

The Community Blood Center, in collaboration with the Beverly Area Planning Association (BAPA), warmly invites you to help bolster the blood supply in Chicago’s neighborhoods. Our center, the first of its kind in the city, is dedicated to ensuring hospitals have the resources to treat patients effectively. Whether you are a first-time or regular donor, your donation is invaluable. Each contribution can assist multiple patients and provide a lifeline during emergencies.

To schedule an appointment, it’s as easy as visiting communityblood.org or stopping by our center at 9920 S. Western Ave. Walk-ins are always welcome. The blood donation takes about an hour, so remember to stay hydrated and bring a valid government-issued ID.

Join us in this vital cause and make a significant impact on our community. Together, we can ensure that every patient receives the lifesaving care they need. Your donation could be the difference between life and death for someone in need. Be a hero this summer—donate blood and save lives.
