BAPA Donor Spotlight: Marti Jatis

Marti Jatis

Smith Village Executive Director

“BAPA listens to Beverly/Morgan Park residents, responds to their concerns and finds ways to showcase the best parts of our community. Events like the Beverly/Morgan Park Home Tour and the Ridge Run introduce our neighborhoods to the rest of Chicago and make me proud to be a Beverly resident. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, BAPA organized a parade of decorated cars so neighbors could show support for the Smith Village residents, who were living in quarantine, and for our dedicated staff members. We were touched by the beautiful, heartfelt way that BAPA rallied the community support for our seniors. For most of our residents, our nearby neighborhoods have been their home for decades before they moved to Smith Village. It just makes sense that we would support an organization that supports the community that we love!”

Marti Jatis, Executive Director of Smith Village since 2012, is a Beverly/Morgan Park resident. She began her senior living career in 1998 as a dietician at Smith Village’s forerunner, the Washington and Jane Smith Home.
