Sutherland School Hosts Italian Street Painting Festival

Fall festivals in the Midwest are better known for sticky taffy apples and scratchy bales of hay than for portraits of the Mona Lisa, or even Kermit the Frog. But that’s where Sutherland School’s I Madonnari Italian Street Painting Festival really stands apart.

Meet Some BAPA Members

How can you spot a BAPA member?  We’re pretty sure you’ve seen them -- they shop at County Fair, watch their kids play at Graver Park, and catch a train to work.  Many drop kids off at Clissold or stop by the Morgan Park Post Office to buy at stamp!

BAPA members are as mixed as our community. They range from twenty-somethings to ninety-somethings. Some have a baby on their hip and others have children grown and living in homes of their own -- many of these are BAPA members, too!
Just like our neighborhood, BAPA members come from very race, income bracket, education level, and profession.

These are the neighbors who help BAPA make a better community for every family in Beverly Hills/Morgan Park. Why do they join? Let them tell you in their own words.

95th Street Business Association Celebrates 50 Years of Service

In 1958, Ike was president, Elvis joined the Army, people were watching “Gunsmoke” on TV and “The Chipmunk Song” made it to #1. It was also the year that the 95th Street Business Association was founded.

Although a lot has changed in the 50 years since the volunteer organization first began serving the commercial strip, the group and executive director Lois Weber, the only paid staff, remain committed to keeping the street beautiful, safe and shopper-friendly.

Thanks to Music Under the Stars Sponsors

Many thanks to the following sponsors who made BAPA’s Music Under the Stars possible in August. It was a tremendous success – perfect weather, great music, wonderful refreshments, terrific kids’ activities, and, of course, nearly 1,500 of our favorite friends! Please support the businesses that support our community.
