   memorial day parade 2010

Beverly Hills/Morgan Park Memorial Day Parade is one of Chicago’s oldest Memorial Day festivities. The Memorial Day Parade Committee is in an effort to revive this family celebration by encouraging more of you to get involved. In past years you may have been cheering from the side line wondering what it takes to get in the line up. This year, we invite your family and friends to join many community groups in the march to Ridge Park for free. Businesses and Non-for-Profit groups have the chance to march for a small fee as well. To help make the parade vivacious bring your drums, balloons, lawnmowers, decorated family t-shirts, and decorated bicycles or wagons. Also, if you live along the Ridge Run route don’t forget to decorate your home. Family and friends of the men and women serving in the US Armed Forces are welcome to show their support for the troops by marching behind the grand marshal, Brian Schiller.

The parade follows the 33rd annual Ridge Run, stepping off at about 10:30 from 110th and Longwood Drive and proceeding north to Ridge Park, 97th and Longwood Drive. Memorial Day activities will follow the parade at Ridge Park which includes a Color Guard Ceremony remembering men and women of the United States Armed Forces both past and present. Also, there will be  inflatable activities, refreshments, and live entertainment.

If you have a friend or family member from the Beverly Area who is currently serving in the Armed Forces e-mail ridgerun@bapa.org so that we can honor them during the Ceremony.
