 There are plenty of activities and organizations open for seniors in Beverly Hills/Morgan Park. Visit this month's Senior Calendar for current happenings. Most of the following clubs and facilities host regular social and informational programs, many of which are free or offered for low fees. Call your church, bank, library or nearest park for information on additional activities and programs.

Renaissance Academy

Renaissance Academy schedules more than 40 classes in the fall, winter and spring on the campus of SXU, Tues. and Thurs. afternoons. Recent offerings: Behind the Headlines, Opera Encore, Movies as an Art Form, Scripture from Scratch, Writing Family History and Getting a Handle on Your Finances. Dues: $125/year, covers fees for up to 4 classes in each session.

St. Barnabas Church

Leisure Club offers seniors a place to pursue mutual interests and enjoy outings with parishioners. Programs feature guest speakers addressing topical issues. Trips take members as near as neighborhood venues and as far as neighboring states. Open to all parish seniors. Meetings: 2nd Tues., monthly, Parish Hall (accessible by elevator).

Covenant Companions is open to all neighborhood seniors interested in participating in Christian Bible Study, fellowship and recreational events. No dues. Meetings: Time and place varies; call for schedule.

St. Cajetan Church

Sharpies participate in intergenerational programs with St. Cajetan School students, day trips in and outside the city, and social activities at the church. Meetings often feature guest speakers. Dues: $3/year, plus $2 each meeting. Open to all parish seniors. Meetings: 1st & 3rd Thurs., Feb. - December, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Memorial Hall.

Those With Leisure uses one meeting day for a trip or lunch, and the other to stay local, socialize, hear an informational program or work on a project that benefits the church. Ridge Historical Society

Get involved in preserving your community's history and learning more about Beverly Hills/Morgan Park. Be a volunteer docent, or just come to enjoy great company and interesting programs. Call this office for information on almost any program or service for seniors offered in Beverly Hills/Morgan Park: 55Alive drivers classes, Medicare/insurance assistance, Chicago Department on Aging trips and services, income tax assistance; referrals for respite care, wellness programs and other health needs, and more. Active Bev/Mor seniors also volunteer for the annual Ridge Walk, Kiwanis Peanut Day, Lions Candy Day and BAPA special events. Office hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Mon., Tues., Thurs. and Fri.
