You can make a difference in our local schools by running for your Local School Council (LSC).
Chicago Public Schools have Local School Councils (LSCs) to help with the operations of each school. The primary responsibilities of LSCs include approving how funds and resources are allocated, developing and monitoring the annual school improvement plan, and evaluating and monitoring the school’s principal. Elementary school LSCs consist of 11 voting members: 1 principal, 6 parent representatives, 2 community representatives and 2 teacher representatives.
High School LSCs consist of 12 voting members: 1 principal, 6 parent representatives, 2 community representatives, 2 teacher representatives and 1 student representative.
Candidate forms are available at your school, CPS Area Offices, Chicago Public Libraries, or at www.cps.edu. Completed forms must be returned by 3 p.m., Mar. 11 at local schools. |
